Some of your child’s best memories are often made at summer camp. Unfortunately, head lice like camp just as much as your children do. Don’t let this pesky problem keep your child from the fun of swimming, games and campfires this summer. They want a lice-free summer camp!

Pediatric Hair Solutions keeps campers lice-free

How to prevent lice at summer campMore camp programs are being proactive about preventing the spread of head lice and calling on Pediatric Hair Solutions to help. Our clinicians will be heading to camps in the Southeast this summer to help prevent lice outbreaks.

We offer camp concierge services that include head checks for all campers upon arrival. Children who are found to have head lice are treated on-site using our guaranteed process that includes a non-toxic solution and a heated air medical device. Our service protects other children from getting head lice and allows campers who arrive with head lice the ability to stay and enjoy their camp experience.

Camps with proactive head lice policies using Pediatric Hair Solutions services include: Camp Greystone, Camp Merrie-Wood, Camp Judaea, Camp Green Cove, Camp Wayfarer and Camp Kanata.

Pediatric Hair Solutions also provides customized assistance based on the needs of each camp to establish policies, treatment protocols and guidance for campers and their families.

For camps not using our concierge service, we can provide our non-toxic treatment solutions and, if there is an outbreak, send a nurse to help contain the spread within 48 hours of a report.

Tips for a lice-free summer camp:

As you prepare to send your child to camp, you should also prepare for the potential of head lice. It makes sense, kids are together day and night, sleeping in tight quarters.

Before camp starts, be proactive and have your child checked for head lice in the privacy of one of our clinic locations.

If your child has recently had lice and you’ve been treating it with over-the-counter shampoos, chances are they still have lice and should be checked. Super lice are resistant to most chemical treatments.

When camp starts, remind your child not to share brushes, combs, hairbands or hats. For children with longer hair, it helps to keep the hair tied back in a ponytail or bun.

Don’t forget to pack Pediatric Hair Solutions Preventative Lice Spray. Our non-toxic, lice deterrent has a light mint scent that lice don’t like.

If your child’s camp does not have a head lice policy, it’s important to have them checked for lice after camp ends. Lice is present in 2-4% of school-aged children so chances are several kids at camp came there with lice.
